My own experiences with loss and pain led me to seek healing.
After experiencing a series of painful losses, I began studying how to recover from grief. I was disappointed that so many grief groups and most grief therapy only provide an opportunity to express the painful and confusing feelings about loss. I wanted a program that would take me to the other side of my grief. I wanted to feel whole again and resume my former productivity. I wanted to be excited and purposeful about life again.
Finding some answers
Finally, when I found The Grief Recovery Institute® I found the resources I was looking for. I learned about all the misinformation we have about grief that hinders our recovery process when a devastating loss rocks our lives.
I learned that there are a series of specific steps or choices that I needed to make to bring healing to my broken heart. During that short-term process I cried a lot of tears, but at the end, I was done. The grief was completed.
Sure, there are times when I still think of my loved ones who passed away and other losses (and even shed a few more tears), but now the memories of our relationships are not hijacked by regret, resentment or pain. If I have any sadness now (which is rare), it passes quickly and does not overwhelm me. As a result of my positive experiences with Grief Recovery, I became a Certified Grief Recovery Specialist® to help others respond to the pain and confusion of grief positively and rapidly with the same correct steps and choices.
